What are the Differences Between the Cambro UPC and UPCS Pan Carriers?

Cambro produces two similar pan carriers, the UPC and the UPCS series. The key difference between the two is how they are manufactured. UPC is produced with rotational mold technology and the UPCS model is produced with structural web technology.

Rotational mold technology is a slower, costlier manufacturing technique. The process consists of resin being injected into one half of a mold, then is chained together to the second half. The mold is heated and spun for approximately 45 minutes creating a plastic shell. The shell is then injected with the insulation. The Cambro UPC pan carrier has a vent cap and gasket which requires additional cleaning. Pictured at right in green.

Structural web technology is a faster less expensive technique that produces stronger more uniform plastics. This process consists of injecting a resin into a clam shell mold that is fused together then injected with insulation. The product is produced much quicker, which lowers costs. Structural web manufacturing creates a product with a stronger seal, higher tolerance and is a denser unit. The Cambro UPCS S-series Pan Carriers does not require a gasket or a vent cap. It has excellent temperature retention, it is easier to clean and a less expensive product. Pictured below in gray.
